Early Childhood

Highland Primary Early Childhood teachers:
Dana Bivens and Connie Sparlin

HI! My name is Ms. Dana and I am one of the Early Childhood teachers here at Highland Primary. My teaching career has offered me opportunities to teach the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Severe/Profound Mentally Impaired and Medically Fragile, as well as Early Childhood. I have enjoyed learning all that these groups of students have taught me.

I have two beautiful boys that keep me busy when I am not at work. We enjoy spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks and taking small trips. I LOVE to go for long walks (half-marathons) and have an equal appreciation for cheese popcorn and Dt. Dr. Pepper!

I truly enjoy my “job” teaching the youngest learners in Highland Community Schools!

Hi!  I'm Connie Sparlin and I'm one of the Early Childhood Teachers.  I began teaching Early Childhood at Highland Primary in 1989.  Prior to teaching in Highland, I was an Educational Therapist at Children's Hospital in St. Louis. I graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and from Southern Illinois University with a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
I was born and raised in Highland.  In fact, my current classroom is where I attended Kindergarten!
Young children are truly amazing human beings!  Parents are a child's first and most important teacher and I am excited to have the opportunity to support you in that role!
